December 18th, 2013

I had a meeting with Ms. Hughes today, just as a check in to ensure that I am on track to getting this done in time. We talked about the report, and just how to manage my time in a way that will be beneficial so I don't overwhelm myself with work.

I continued to research, and found this Himalayan art, it is
a painting depicting the Indian God and Buddhist Deity Ganapati. The orange and red relate to my paintings, as does the elephant.

December 8th, 2013

I decided I wanted to elaborate on the owl painting, because in relation to the other two, it was the odd one out. So I worked on the red, and increased
the texture and added a gradient color scheme.

November 26th, 2013

(Later in the day than my previous post.) I finished the monkey painting. I think it might be my favorite.

November 26th, 2013

Worked more on the monkeys, I really like how it's turning out. The gradient orange provides a nice texture that I find reminds me of a sunset.

November 24th, 2013

I started painting the monkey today. So far I really like it. I hope to finish this by Thanksgiving.

November 20th, 2013

Today there was a meeting for the personal project. I was unable to go, but I stopped by to get the sheets. One of the sheets was a schedule for the project, the other was criterion E of her project.  Both are pretty self explanatory, so I'm not too concerned about not going to the meeting. I hope to finish the painting by next Thursday, November 28th.

October 16th, 2013

I started on the third, and probably final piece. I was originally going to do a single monkey, hanging from a vine, but I started thinking and decided to do a parent and child, seeing as it is for a pediatrician's office.

October 11th, 2013

Research:

Katie Carlsruh is an artist who has a similar painting style as me. She has some paintings of jungle animals, which nothing else in the picture. Similar to me, but I typically have something small in with the animal.

Rachel Hershkovitz has one piece that has a similar color scheme to mine, but it is a very different style and subject.

October 3rd, 2013

I worked on the eyes, and I'm so much happier with them, and now I'm done with the owl.

I had a meeting with Ms. Hughes after school, and she and I talked about the research aspect of the project. She told me to look up artists who use similar color schemes and animal artists.

October 1st, 2013

I worked on the owl. I added another branch on the top of the tree, and I worked on the eyes, but I hate it, so I'm going to re-do them. I am happy with the way the wings and the nose turned out. I darkened the gold so there would be a bigger contrast.

October 1st, 2013

Today there was a meeting for the people doing the personal project. There were a couple things I wasn't aware I had to do/couldn't remember if I had already talked about them. So:

My Goal:
Three or four paintings to be done by the end of November.

I also didn't realize I had to do research, and since this is project that is very much in my head, the research I am saying I have done so far is the emails with Ron-Li about what she wants and the google searching I did to get ideas for each painting.

I emailed Ms. Hughes today, asking if we could have meeting sometime this week, just to check in. We also had a very quick conversation last week after school one day, and she just asked how I was doing on it, and if I needed any help.

September 18th, 2013

I worked on the owl. The colors are a little different than
what I had pictured, but I like it. I'm not sure how to do the wings and the eyes, so I'll work on that next time.

August 20th, 2013

I started the new owl piece, and I'm pretty happy with how its coming. I really like the contrast of the red with the white, I think I'm going to leave the tree white.

August 7th, 2013

Today I finally did the background of the elephant. I'm now done with it, since I have cleaned up the edges, and signed it. I'm going to start working on an owl for the next piece.

July 10th, 2013

I bought more paint, but I got really frustrated by the purple, so I painted it all white, and I'll deal with it all later. I worked on the bouquet, really focusing on the detail involved to make the flowers really stand out, since they are the most detailed part of the piece.

June 27th, 2013

I continued working on the elephant piece. I really didn't like the original purple background, so I started painting over it. I then ran out of the red and blue I was using to mix up the new purple, so I started working on the green parts of the bouquet.

June 7th, 2013

Today, I started the project. Ron-Li wants paintings of a forest / tropical jungle-esque setting with Indian & Tibetan flavor,  with a green/red/orange/gold/purple color palette, elephant with a bouquet in its trunk, and an owl, along with anything else I can come up with. I decided to so the elephant first, and combined 3 pictures to make up the picture. I gridded that, and the canvas, and then started transferring. Once I was done transferring, I started painting. I painted the elephant gold, and the background purple. I haven't started on the flowers yet.

June 5th, 2013

Today, I went to Michaels, and got supplies for the project.  I decided to change my project from a cookbook, to doing art for a friend's office in New York.  I am still going at it from the Human Ingenuity angle. My question is going to be "How can my art change and improve how Ron-Li feels about her office?"

May 29th, 2013

I went to the meeting to learn more about this project. I've decided to do a cookbook, which fits into the Human Ingenuity Area of Interaction.
